ADAMS, Wilma Fay Parks, 67, of Marion, died Thursday, April 6, 1995, in Smyth County Community Hospital. She is survived by her husband, Sam Adams of Marion; two daughters and sons-in-law, Marcia and John D. Tilson of Marion and Karen and Mac Allison of Kingsport, Tenn.; one son and daughter-in-law, Roger A. and Elizabeth Ann Adams of Goosecreek, S.C.; two sisters, Sue McAllister of Marion and Lorraine Hash of Dublin; one brother, Roy Parks of Marion; six grandchildren, Stephen D. Tilson, Christopher Adams, Douglas Allison, Emily Adams, Caris Tilson, and Whitney Allison. Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Saturday, April 8, 1995, Seaver-Brown Chapel with the Rev. ATKINS, Frances Turner, 66, of Route 1, Callaway, died Wednesday, April 5, 1995, at her residence. She was a daughter of the late John W. and Kate Poindexter Turner and was preceded in death by her husband, Rufus Garland Atkins and a daughter, Patsy A. Pulliam. Surviving are two sons and daughters-in-law, Michael L. and Laura Atkins, Jerry G. and Shirley Atkins all of Callaway; two grandsons and a special friend, Gregory Todd Pulliam and Melinda Jones, Timothy Garland Atkins; two granddaughters, Mary Beth Pulliam and Mary Jane Atkins; one sister and brother-in-law, Doris T. and Terry Hall of Rocky Mount; one brother and sister-in-law, John Ed and Pat Turner of Rocky Mount. Graveside services will be conducted at Franklin Memorial Park, 2 p.m. Saturday with the Rev. Billy Shively officiating. BARKER, Bessie Jane, 58, of Christiansburg, passed away Wednesday, April 5, 1995, in Montgomery Regional Hospital. She was preceded in death by her parents, Charles and Lula Barker and a brother, John Wesley Barker. She is survived by brothers and sisters-in-law, Frank and Lois Barker, George Calvin and Esther Barker all of Blacksburg, Charles William Barker, Radford, Cline Everette and Zelva Barker, Pilot; sisters and brothers-in-law, Ethel Barker Young, Christiansburg, Sarah Barker Dowdy, Blacksburg, Gladiolu and Howard Dowdy, Pilot; a number of nieces, nephews, great-nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be 1:30 p.m. Sunday, April 9, in the Richardson-Horne Funeral Home Chapel conducted by the Rev. Homer D. Sawyer with burial in the Barker Family Cemetery. BENNETT, Emmett Sherrard, 86, of 126 Mountain Avenue, Rocky Mount, Va. died Thursday, April 6, 1995, at his residence. He was a son of the late Richard Coleman and Ella Dudley Bennett, and was preceded in death by three brothers, Irvin, Conrad, and Willard Bennett. Mr. Bennett truly loved the town of Rocky Mount as well as Franklin County, having been reared on a rural farm and was always willing to give of his time, energy and donations to help promote the continued growth in the county. His love of people drew him to continue his association with his business until his eighty-sixth year. He was the owner of Bennett's Tire Service, Inc., served on the Board of Directors of the Boy Scouts and the Franklin County Chamber of Commerce, was past President of the Rocky Mount Lions Club, member of the Franklin Co. Retail Merchants Association and was a member of the Rocky Mount Town Council for eighteen years, twelve of which he served as Vice-Mayor. A longtime member of the Rocky Mount Christian Church, having served as Elder and at his death was Elder Emeritus, He had served as Sunday School Superintendent and as Sunday School Teacher; he was a past member of the Rocky Mount Fire Department, having served as Chief. He served many years on the Rocky Mount Industrial Development Authority. Surviving are his wife, Irene Strickler Bennett, of the home; one daughter Ann Bennett Pace, Rocky Mount; one son and daughter-in-law, Richard Sherrard and Shery Wampler Bennett, Rocky Mount; his grandchildren, Charles Bennett Pace and his wife, Donna, Brett Wakefield Pace and his wife, Mary, Stacy Renee Pace, Ashley Rose Bennett and Alisha Ann Bennett; his great-grandchildren, Hannah and Erin Pace; one sister, Mrs. Ralph (Ruth) Hutcherson, Rocky Mount. Funeral services will be onducted at 11 a.m. Saturday, from the Rocky Mount Christian Church with the Rev. Glenn Clements and the Rev. Joe T. Lindsoe officiating. BREWSTER, Sophia Jane Tibbs, 94, of Route 1, Rural Retreat, died Wednesday, April 5, 1995, in the Wythe County Community Hospital. She was born in Smyth County, the daughter of the late John W. and Bertie Remines Tibbs and was a member of the New Bethel United Methodist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, George Robert Brewster Sr., a daughter, Ora Mae Brewster, and a grandson, James Lee Robinson. She is survived by two daughters and sons-in-law, Lois Jane and Gene Robinson of Damascus, Md., Charlotte Ann and Luther Cline of Wytheville; six sons and daughters-in-law, George Jr. and Dot Brewster of Rural Retreat, Harloe W. and Selena Brewster of Fairfax, John W. and Helen Brewster of Roanoke, Paul Lee and Joyce Brewster of Wytheville, Emory Leon and Shirley Brewster of Rural Retreat, the Rev. James Dean and Judy Brewster of Greenville, Tenn.; one foster daughter, Gladys Crouse of Rural Retreat; two brothers, Woodrow Tibbs of Adwolfe and Garland Tibbs of Rural Retreat; one sister-in-law, Lizzie Baldwin of Bluefield, Va.; twenty-three grandchildren; twenty-seven great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; three foster grandchildren; two foster great-grandchildren. CHANDLER, Sarah Folden, 84, of Bedford, passed away Wednesday, April 5, 1995, in the Bedford County Memorial Hospital. She was born September 19, 1910, in Bedford County, a daughter of the late Bruce Folden and Sally Parker Folden. Her husband was the late Charlie Chandler. She was a retired employee of Hampton Looms and was a member of the Bedford Christian Church. She is survived by a sister, Ethel Adkins, Bedford; 12 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren. Graveside services will be conducted Saturday, April 8, 1995, at 11 a.m. from the Oakwood Cemetery, by the Rev. Ken Burger. The family will receive friends today from 7 to 9 p.m. at Updike Funeral Home, Bedford, and request that those wishing to make memorials consider the Bedford Christian Church Building Fund or the Bedford Life Saving Crew.

COX, Margaret T., of Roanoke, died Thursday, April 6, 1995, at her home of natural causes. Margaret was a graduate of UCLA and was an accomplished local artist. She was an active member of the League of Roanoke Artists and a member of the Virginia Watercolor Society. She was a loving and gifted woman, wife and mother, who will be greatly missed by her family and friends. She is survived by her husband, Howard; two sons, Joel and wife, Phyllis, Gary and wife, Jill; daughter, Stacy and her husband, David Pronko; grandchildren, Danielle, Heather and Chelsea Chappell-Cox: James, Robert, William and Christine Cox: Nicholas Pronko. Also surviving is a sister, Edith Nordvold, Arcadia, Calif. Services will be at Oakey;s South Chapel, 11 a.m. Saturday, April 8, 1995. The Rev. M. Douglas Newman will officiate. Interment will be in Panhandle, Texas. The family will receive friends at Oakey's S outh Chapel, from 7 to 9 p.m., Friday. EAKIN, Peggy Glenn, 64, of Raphine, died Wednesday, April 5, 1995, in the Stonewall Jackson Hospital. Mrs. Eakin was born July 8, 1930 in Rockbridge Co. a daughter of the late Guy Bowman Glenn and Helen Ballard Glenn. She was a member of the Lexington Church of God. Surviving are her husband, James Winston Eakin; a son, David Winston Eakin, Fairfield; three daughter, Teresa E. Humphries, Raphine, Vicky E. Sagehorn, Antioch, Calif., Susan E. Rowe, Greenville; four grandchildren. Funeral services will be conducted 2 p.m. Sunday, April 9, 1995, at the Harrison Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Daniel Duff officiating. EPPERLY, Cecil G. Jr., (""Gary""), 31, of Vinton, passed away Thursday, April 6, 1995 in a local hospital. Surviving are his mother and step father, Diane Carol and Karl K. Anderson, Vinton; father and step mother, Cecil G. Sr. and Beverly C. Epperly, Roanoke; a sister, Lisa J. Epperly, Roanoke; a brother, David R. Epperly, Roanoke; grandparents, R. S. (""Sam"") and Maude V. Stanley, Roanoke; also surviving are a number of aunts, uncles and cousins. Funeral services will be at Oakey's Roanoke Chapel, 1:30 p.m. Saturday with the Rev. HARRIS, Lola Underwood, 90, of Meadows of Dan, passed away Thursday, April 6, 1995, at Laurel Meadows Home, Laurel Fork. She was the widow of Rucker Harris. Survivors include one brother, Buren Underwood, Meadows of Dan; one sister, Edith Hubbard, Meadows of Dan; several nieces and nephews. HELMS, Evelyn L., 67, of South Orange, N.J., formerly of Christiansburg, died Monday, April 3, 1995, in South Orange, N.J. She is survived by her husband, Ervin E. RORRER, Loal Webb, 81, of Hillsville, passed away Thursday, April 6, 1995, at Twin County Regional Hospital. Born March 2, 1914 in Carroll County, she was the daughter of the late Rufus Aaron and Maggie Webb, a member of Grove Missionary Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Virginia Lee Andrews and her husband, Roy Lester Rorrer. She is survived by two daughters and sons-in-law, Maxine and Barnard Martin of Hillsville, Ann and Bob Castle of Pasadena, Md.; one brother, Silas A. SMITH, Sidney C., 90, of Roanoke, formerly of Charleston, W.Va., died Wednesday, April 5, 1995, in Camelot Hall Care Center. He was born in Uler, W.Va. Mr. Smith was a retired employee of the Appalachian Power Company. He is survived by his wife, Mabel S. He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Verlie Sutphin, Norfolk; one daughter, Cheryl Sutphin, Norfolk; two stepdaughters, Marene Alvarez, Sandra Littman; one brother, Richard Sutphin, Blacksburg; one sister, Mary Ellen Stanley, Hillsville; one nephew, Wesley Herring; one niece, Cynthia Cabiness; one great-nephew, Greg Cabiness.
