LYNCH LEADS EARLY, WINS HOOSIER TIRE 300

Steve Lynch of Rocky Mount earned his third career victory by beating out pole-sitter Bobby Radford in the Hoosier Tire 300 Saturday night at Franklin County Speedway.

Lynch took the lead from Lowe Smith on lap 7 and went on to win the 50-lap feature. Radford finished second, followed by Dudley Lawhorn of Rustburg and Smith. John Hall was fifth.

Mike Elkins of Rocky Mount was the winner of the Street Stock Division, besting Roanoke's Mike Dudley, who finished second. Floyd's Leon Dalton was third, followed by Skip Bennington and Wayne Corprew of Roanoke.

In the Mini Stock Division, Steve Lam was the winner. Gary Joyce finished second, followed by Bobby Hurt, Chris Martin and Roanoke's Kevin Laprade.

Ricky Ferguson was the winner of the Rookie Division. Harold Dalton finished second and Bobby Davis third. Mark Stoner placed fourth and Rob Woodard was fifth.

In the Pure Stock Division, Red Hartman was the unofficial winner. Jay Peery and Tommy Dooley, both of Roanoke, finished second and third, respectively. Larry Dunbar was the Any Car Division winner.
