UVA TUITION TO RISE 3 PERCENT NEXT YEAR

The University of Virginia Board of Visitors approved a 3 percent increase in tuition and fees Saturday for undergraduate and graduate students from Virginia.

Tuition and fees for in-state students for the 1995-96 academic year will be $4,614. Tuition and fees will rise 7.3 percent to $14,006 for out-of-state graduate and undergraduate students.

For graduate students in business, tuition and fees will rise 7.2 percent for in-state students to $10,000; out-of-state students will pay 7.3 percent more next year, or $19,082.

Law students will pay $8,762 next year if they qualify as Virginia residents, a 7.1 percent increase. Out-of-state law students will pay 7.3 percent more, $18,666.

Medical students will face smaller increases. In-state students will pay $9,266, a 3 percent increase, while out-of-state students will pay $21,240, a 4.9 percent jump.
