BARGER, Emma Saunders, 77, of Rocky Mount, died Sunday, April 9, 1995. Mrs. Barger was preceded in death by her parents, Forrest B. and Grace Cundiff Saunders. Surviving are her husband, George H. Barger of the home; one son and daughter-in-law, Terry and Lynda Barger of Winston-Salem, N.C.; one sister, Myrtle Hall of Rocky Mount; two grandchildren, David Barger of N.Y., and Julie Barger of Winston-Salem, N.C. Also surviving are many other loving relatives and friends. Funeral services will be conducted 2 p.m. Tuesday, April 11, from the Arrington Bussey Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Larry Thompson officiating. Burial will follow in Franklin Memorial Park. BENGE, Andrew L., 79, of Blue Ridge, died Saturday, April 8, 1995. Mr. Benge was happily married to Hazel for 59 years. He was preceded in death by his son, James B. Benge. Surviving are his wife, Hazel C. Benge; sons and daughters-in-law, Frank B. and Nancy Benge, Harold Benge, Andrew Jr. and Brenda Benge, Alfred (``Al"") L. and Janet Benge; daughters and sons-in-law, Norina B. and Raymond Harris, Eva R. and Sam Moran, Gracie M. and Robert (``Bob"") Durr, Lois A. Benge, Carolyn F. and David Deel; 22 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren. Graveside services will be held 11 a.m. Tuesday, April 11, 1995 at Old Dominion Memorial Gardens with the Rev. Johnny Howard officiating. The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. Monday at Oakey's North Chapel.

BROWN, Bernice Johnston, 71, of Martinsville, died Saturday, April 8, 1995 at Memorial Hospital of Martinsville and Henry County. Born March 4, 1924, she was the daughter of the late Jesse H. and Rachel Eanes Johnston. She is also preceded in death by her brother, H. Morris Johnston. Surviving is her husband, Curtis O. Brown, of the home; one son, Lonnie H. Carter, Martinsville; two daughters and sons-in-law, Brenda and Roger Boyd, Bassett, and Joyce and Gert Persson, Newport News; two grandchildren, Michael Carter and Jason Carter, both of Atlanta, Ga.; three brothers, James (``Jim"") H. Johnston and Reves Johnston, both of Martinsville, and Charlie Johnston, Ridgewa y; and three nephews. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, April 11, 1995 at Lynch Funeral Home Chapel with the Elder Larry Hollandsworth and Elder Lane Carter officiating. DALMAS, Ann Diemer, 91, of Lynchburg, formerly of Roanoke, passed away Sunday, April 9, 1995. Mrs. Dalmas was a graduate of the Philadelphia Academy of Fine Arts and was a member of Christ Episcopal Church (Roanoke) since 1927. She was the widow of Walter Haines Dalmas and is survived by her sons and daughters-in-law, Robert LaRoche and Margaret Aronson Dalmas, Rio Rancho, N.M., James Edward and Linda Proudfoot Dalmas, Jarrettsville, Md., John Hall and Thelma Hamill Dalmas, Lynchburg; six grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at Christ Episcopal Church, Wednesday, April 12, 1995, at 11 a.m., with the Rev. Deborah Hentz Hunley officiating. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials to Christ Episcopal Church, in her memory. The family will receive friends Tuesday from 6 to 8 p.m. at Oakey's Roanoke Chapel.

HUDGINS, Joseph B. (``Joe""), 80, of Roanoke County, passed away Saturday, April 8, 1995. Mr. Hudgins attended the University of Virginia, was a member of Virginia Heights Baptist Church, and was retired co-owner of Hudgins-Pace Construction Company. Surviving are his wife of 58 years, Doris R. Hudgins; daughter and son-in-law, Mary Jo and William B. Thomas, Roanoke; sons and daughters-in-law, Dr. E. M. and Beverly Hudgins, Robert L. and Carol Hudgins, all of Richmond; six grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; also, Robert Earl Rasmussen of Atlanta, Ga., a nephew who was raised by Dody and Big Daddy. A graveside service will be held in Fairview Cemetery, Tuesday, April 11, 1995, at 11 a.m. with Dr. Daniel E. Scott and Dr. Harry Y. Gamble officiating. The family suggests memorials be made to Virginia Heights Baptist Church or your favorite charity, in his memory. There will be no visitation at the funeral home. PAYNTER, Orville Carlton Sr., 85, of Buena Vista, died Saturday, April 8, 1995 in the Stonewall Jackson Extended Care Facility. He was born November 14, 1909 in Clifton Forge, Va. son of the late Earle G. Paynter Sr. and Susie Thompson Paynter. He was retired with 47 years of service from the C & O Railroad as a section foreman. He was a member of the St. John's United Methodist Church. Surviving are his wife, Bernice P. Keller, of Staunton; daughter, Judith P. Moschler, of Midlothian; two sons, O.C. Paynter Jr., of Roanoke Rapids, N.C. and Gregory P. Paynter, of Chantilly; nine grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren; one sister, Evelyn Mesrobian, of Ypslanti, Mich.; one brother, William T. Paynter, of Chesapeake. A funeral service will be conduc ted 11 a.m. Wednesday, April 12, 1995 from the graveside in Mountain View Cemetery, Clifton Forge with the Rev. Edward Johnson officiating. She is preceded in death by her husband of sixty years, George William Snow Sr. and has gone now to join him.

Cooper, Michael A. Cooper, Terry Turner, Walla F. Murphy, Walter C. Turner Jr., Wilbur D. Turner, Penny S. Turner, Peggy L.
