"We're basically doing country cooking, everything from scratch. ... Just as country as we can get it," said chief cook Linda Lawson.
And she would like to have people mail her their favorite country recipes for use at the restaurant. Recipes should be sent to 220 N. Washington Ave., Pulaski, Va. 24301.
Lawson studied food management at New River Community College. "I can cook about anything that's on paper," she said.
The restaurant is owned by David and Teresa Lee of Wytheville, and is located in the former Ellery's Blues & More building on Washington Avenue.
It opened quietly last week - "Low-key, not a grand opening," David Lee said.
The restaurant serves breakfast, lunch and dinner and is open 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. every day except Sunday.
The hours will be extended on Fridays and Saturdays when All Country begins live entertainment on weekends. "It'll be a couple of weeks," said Lee, who has been playing country music himself for between 20 and 30 years.
He said he wants to book country bands from the area. Representatives of area bands interested in performing can contact Lee at 980-8082.
The owners of Ellery's also tried combining a restaurant with live weekend entertainment, specializing in blues music. The attempt proved unsuccessful and Ellery's closed last year.
The building is being rented from Dr. Nathaniel Tuck. The Lees purchased most of the equipment that had been used in the Ellery's operation.
Lawson said the restaurant is also available for meetings of civic clubs and other groups.
