BEDFORD MAN PLEADS GUILTY IN RAPE

A Bedford County man has pleaded guilty in Bedford County Circuit Court to raping and sodomizing a Campbell County woman.

Alfonza "Rabbit" Calloway, 40, has two previous convictions for rape. With the new conviction last week, he faces life in prison.

Calloway went to the Campbell woman's house in October to repair her car. After the job was done, she gave him a ride back to his house in Bedford County.

The woman said he forced her out of the car and into his house, where the attack took place.

In pretrial hearings, Calloway admitted having sex with the woman but denied coercing her.

A sentencing date has not been set.
