Deputy Chief Jonny Butler said Malcolm Courtney Lewis was charged with having a firearm while possessing a controlled substance.
Police said they spotted Lewis - who was already wanted in Pulaski County - at a convenience store on Tyler Avenue. After stopping Lewis, police said they found what they believed to be crack cocaine and a .410 pistol, Butler said.
The .410 is capable of firing either shotgun shells or solid slugs. Butler described it as "very effective at close range."
