COLUMNIST WINS AWARD

Jack Bogaczyk, sports columnist of the Roanoke Times & World-News, tied for second place in the column writing category in the Football Writers Association of America writing contest for 1994.

Bogaczyk's winning entry appeared Nov.27 and was titled ``Cavs' fans spoiled by victors.'' The subject was Virginia's football success and the Wahoo fans that screamed at coaches as they left Scott Stadium following UVa's loss to North Carolina State.

David Haugh of the South Bend Tribune won first place in the column category and Harold Rosenthal of College & Pro Football Weekly tied for second. Bogaczyk, 45, received an honorable mention from the FWAA last year.
