The Virginia Division of the American Cancer Society has given its Excalibur Award to the Alpha Wolf Group, a division of Sipos Marketing Services Inc. of Roanoke, for producing the American Cancer Society's "core" video, which details the society's new volunteer structure.

J.C. Penney stores at Tanglewood and Valley View malls are taking part in the company's first computerized gift registry program. The registry is linked to all stores in metropolitan areas. Automated kiosks at each store will provide listings of gifts selected by the recipients.

Georgia-Pacific Corp., Atlanta-based pulp, paper and building materials maker, reported net income of $232 million, or $2.59 per share, on sales of $3.48 billion for the first quarter, compared with year-earlier $40 million, or 63 cents per share, on sales of $2.94 billion.
