DANVILLE - Dimon Inc. has bought tobacco businesses in Turkey, Greece and Bulgaria that together bring in about $60 million annually, company officials said.
The Danville-based company, the second-largest leaf tobacco dealer in the world, was created this month by the merger of Dibrell Brothers Inc. of Danville and Monk-Austin of Farmville, N.C. The company also imports flowers.
Acquisition of the businesses strengthens Dimon in the global tobacco market, officials said.

Target looks at Augusta site
STUARTS DRAFT - Target Stores, a discount department store chain said to be planning an expansion into the Roanoke Valley, is considering a 110-acre Augusta County site for a $70 million distribution center that could employ up to 800 people by 2000.
Target, a subsidiary of Minneapolis-based Dayton Hudson Corp., sent county officials a letter saying the Stuarts Draft property near U.S. 340 in Augusta County was its ``preferred site.'' It also is considering sites in Staunton and Hagerstown, Md.
Earlier reports, which the company declined to confirm, indicated Target was looking at sites for a store in northeast Roanoke County and Botetourt County.
