SPECIAL TAX-DAY HOURS AT AREA POST OFFICES

Blacksburg's main post office on University Boulevard will be open until midnight, with two clerks staffing full-service windows and representatives from an accounting fraternity at Virginia Tech offering tax assistance. All correspondence mailed before midnight at that post office will be postmarked April 17.

Post offices in Radford will have special boxes for tax returns, which will receive an April 17 postmark if they are mailed before midnight. In Christiansburg, all mail placed in regular boxes, both inside and outside, will receive an April 17 postmark.

Blacksburg's other post office, on Main Street, will have regular hours. Correspondence mailed after the 5:30 p.m. pickup for outside boxes will receive an April 18 postmark.

Taxes are due April 17 this year because April 15 falls on Saturday.
