Sills is a past recipient of an NCCJ Humanitarian Award.
The awards are given annually to individuals who have made significant humanitarian contributions to the community.
This year's recipients are Abe M. Jacobson, Peter Allen Lewis, Barbara Surrusco and Richard Surrusco.
The NCCJ, founded in 1927, is a human relations organization dedicated to fighting bias, bigotry and rasicm in America. It seeks to promote understanding among all races, religions and cultures through advocacy, education and conflict resolution . Hollins College President Jane Margaret O'Brien is honary chairperson for the awards dinner and presentation.
