ETS International Inc. of Roanoke reported that revenues for its third fiscal quarter, ended Feb. 28, increased 44 percent from $3.4 million last year to $4.9 million. Net income for the period reached $124,879, or 1 cent per share, compared with a net loss of $116,842, equal to 1 cent per share, in the third quarter of last year.
Revenues for the nine months increased 13 percent to $15 million, compared with $13.3 million last year. That resulted in a return to profitability, with a gain of $545,078, or 4 cents per share, this year, compared with a loss of $152,249, equal to 1 cent per share, in the same period last year.
Chairman John McKenna said severe weather tends to affect the third quarter negatively. ``Our focusing on geographic and product expansion, coupled with implementing cost-effective procedures, enabled management to be optimistic'' about the company's long-term growth.
ETS is a technology company that provides environmental and construction products and services.
Stanley Furniture
Stanley Furniture Co. Inc. of Stanleytown reported first quarter net income of $794,000, or 17 cents per share, on sales of $44.9 million, compared with a year-earlier net loss of $372,000, equal to 8 cents per share, on sales of $44.7 million.
Kroger Co.
The Kroger Co., Cincinnati-based grocer, reported first quarter net income of $59.1 million, or 49 cents per share, on sales of $5.46 billion, compared with year-earlier $47.4 million, or 40 cents per share, on sales of $5.33 billion.
Adolph Coors
Adolph Coors Co., Golden, Colo., beer brewer, reported first quarter net income of $92,000, equal to no earnings per share, on net sales of $326.6 million, compared with year-ago $6.9 million, or 18 cents per share, on net sales of $318.5 million. Coors operates a bottling and distribution plant in Rockingham County.

Home Shopping Network Inc., St. Petersburg, Fla., television retailer with operations in Salem, reported a first quarter net loss of $8.8 million, equal to 10 cents per share, on sales of $243.6 million, compared with year-earlier net profit of $6.7 million, or 7 cents per share, on sales of $274.2 million.
