Pilat, who is in his seventh season as coach of the Maroons, won the C. Markland Kelly Award in 1985 as the top goalie in NCAA Division III and holds the school record for most saves in a career with 710. Pilat was a three-time All-American at Roanoke and two-time player of the year in the Old Dominion Athletic Conference.
Smith scored more than any other men's lacrosse player in Roanoke history despite playing just three seasons. He accounted for 145 goals from 1981-1983, including 52 goals in 1982 which is the second highest total in a single season at Roanoke. He was a two-time All-American and won ODAC player of the year honors in 1983.
The induction is part of Alumni Weekend festivities at the college, which also includes the Maroons taking on Hampden-Sydney for the ODAC men's lacrosse championship at 3 p.m. Saturday.

Ryan Jenkins and Ben VanNess tied for medalist honors with a two-round 145 to help Methodist win the team title at the Dixie Conference golf tournament.
Methodist finished with a two-round total of 591 and easily outdistanced second-place Greensboro at 624. Christopher Newport came in third at 625 and Ferrum finished fourth at 639. The Panthers' Matt Jordan finished fifth in the individual race with a 153 to earn all-conference honors as the top-five finishers were named first-team all-conference. Ferrum was also led by Aaron Johnson (158), Ed Alvarez (164), Brant Ruskin (166).
UNC Greensboro captured the men's and women's golf championships at the Big South tournament.
Radford's men finished eighth with 954. The medalist was North Myrtle Beach native Wil Weldon of Coastal Carolina, who shot a one-under par 215 for the tournament. The Highlanders' top finisher was Austin Harper,who came in 27th with a 237.
On the women's side, UNC Greensboro finished with 616 to cruise by second-place Winthrop at 641. Radford finished fifth with 679 and was led by Olivia Faison, who shot a 165.
Washington and Lee rallied for two runs in the bottom of the 12th inning to defeat Hampden-Sydney 11-10 in the completion of a suspended baseball game, but the Tigers came back to beat the Generals 9-6 in the regularly scheduled game at Hampden-Sydney.
Washington and Lee and Hampden-Sydney played to a 9-9 tie in Lexington on March 16 before the game was called because of darkness. Play picked up in the top of the 11th and the Tigers scored twice to take a 10-9 lead. Graig Fantuzzi scored on a two-out double by Bates Brown to tie the score and Brown scored on a single by Matt Ermigiotti to give the Generals (7-16, 4-9) the win.
The Tigers (7-18, 3-11) took the second game which was shortened to seven innings. Brown led the Generals with two hits, including a three-run homer, and Duane Van Arsdale had two hits and scored two runs.
Three solo homers by Virginia Tech propelled the Hokies to a 5-1 win over VMI in a non-conference baseball game in Lexington.
Former William Byrd standout Matt Reynolds hit a solo home run in the second inning as the Hokies (24-16) took a 3-0 lead, and Tech got homers from Kevin Kurilla in the fourth and Josh Herman in the fifth to take command.
Sharp passing by Jim Druckenmiller and Cody Whipple highlighted the offense in Virginia Tech's football scrimmage.
Whipple completed 13 of 17 passes for 123 yards and four touchdowns. He threw touchdown strikes of 28 yards to Marcus Parker, 8 yards to Shawn Scales, 2 yards to Mike Stuewe, and 4 yards to Shaine Miles. Druckenmiller connected on 14 of 18 passes for 146 yards and one scoring strike of 6 yards to Mike Williams.
The Hokies will conclude spring practice Saturday with the annual Maroon-White game at Lane Stadium at 7 p.m.
