BOTETOURT SCHOOL NOMINATIONS OK'D

The Botetourt County Board of Supervisors on Tuesday reaffirmed two School Board appointments that had been invalidated when the supervisors learned they had violated state law.

Michael Beahm was named the Valley District's representative, and Webster E. Booze Jr. was named to the Buchanan seat.

The nominations had been in limbo because the supervisors did not hold a public hearing before making the appointments.

Valley District Supervisor Bill Loope abstained on Booze's appointment. Loope chose to not vote because he previously had supported both Booze and Bob Patterson as School Board candidates. Patterson lost his seat when redrawn boundary lines moved him from the Valley District to the Buchanan District.
