INFANT-BEATING CHARGES CERTIFIED

Charges against a Bedford County man accused of beating and biting his infant daughter were certified to a grand jury Tuesday after a preliminary hearing.

Shang Stanley, 21, was arrested in February after his then 4-month-old daughter suffered internal bleeding, multiple bruises and bite marks Jan. 30.

Assistant Bedford County Commonwealth's Attorney Randy Krantz said after the hearing that Stanley had told police he bit the child.

The next Bedford County grand jury convenes May 2.
