The fire began in the rear of the house at 916 Dale Ave. about 4:50 p.m. and damaged an upstairs bedroom, bathroom and the attic, according to District Fire Chief Phillip Taylor.
Several residents said it was common for their lights to dim as other electrical appliances were turned on. A maintenance worker for the house said the problem was checked in December and nothing appeared to be wrong.
Fire officials had not determined the cause Tuesday. The fire caused about $10,000 in damage.
