BARTLEY, Polly Martin, of Salem, died Monday, April 17, 1995, in Richfield Nursing Home, Salem. Mrs. Bartley was a retired nurse from the Veteran's Medical Center, Salem where she worked for thirty-five years. She received her training at the University of Virginia School of Nursing in Charlottesville and was graduated from the Johnston Memorial School of Nursing in Abingdon. Born in Chilhowie, Smyth County, Virginia, Mrs. Bartley was the widow of Claude Irvin Bartley who was deceased in 1963. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church, Salem. Survivors include two sisters, Ruth M. Carter, Marion, and Kathryn M. Everett of the Brandon Oaks Lutheran Home in Roanoke; and many nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be conducted at 10 a.m. Wednesday from the Williams Funer al Home Chapel, Chilhowie, with the Rev. Charles E. Blevins officiating. Burial will be in the Saint James Lutheran Cemetery, Chilhowie. Pallbearers will be her nephews and great-nephews. CUNNINGHAM, Marion Douglas Jr., 76, of Horseheads, N.Y., died Thursday, April 13, 1995, in Horseheads, N.Y. Born June 19, 1918, in Buena Vista, he was the son of the late Marion D. Cunningham Sr. and Fleda Rucker Cunningham. He was a graduate of Virginia Tech, where he received a Bachelors Degree in Chemical Engineering. Later he was employed by TOSCO Corp. in Marinez, Calif. where, until his retirement in 1980, he was head of the Utility Dept. He was a member of Buena Vista #186 A.F. & A.M., in Va., and a member of Corning Consistory. He is survived by his wife, Dorothy (Salley) Cunningham, Horseheads, N.Y.; two daughters, Carol Thornton, Bluff Point, N.Y. and Fleda Cunningham, Long Beach, Calif.; a brother, Russell (Madge) Cunningham, Y uman, Ariz.; grandchildren, Salley (Greg) Holmes, Scott (Nickole) Thornton, Tracey and Corey Thornton; a great-granddaughter, Ashlee Marie Thornton; two nieces and four nephews. DALTON, Robert Banner, 98, of Radford, passed away Tuesday, April 18, 1995, at Heritage Hall Nursing Home in Blacksburg. Born December 23, 1896 at Stuart, Va. He was a resident of Radford for 42 years where he was a retired grocer, and owner of Jefferson Street Market. He was preceded in death by his parents, Booker and Lila Dalton; first wife, Nettie Phillips Dalton and also by his second wife, Blanche Smith Dalton. Survivors include one son, Philip Dalton, of Bassett; one daughter, Mrs. Margaret Ann Morris, Radford; one brother, Booker H. Dalton, Bassett; two sisters, Lucy Mae Brammer, Bassett; and Margaret Rodgers of Stuart; five grandchildren and two great-grandchildren also survive. Funeral services will be held Thursday April 20, 1995 at 2 p.m. at the Seaver-Sanders & Mullins Funeral Home in Radford, with Larry Phillips and Jerry Gibson officiating. DANIEL, Howard T., 84, of Greeneville, Tenn., formerly of Newport News, Va., died Monday, April 17, 1995, in Takoma Transitional Care, Greeneville, Tenn. He was retired from Newport News Shipbuilding in 1976 and an active member of Towering Oaks Baptist Church until his health began to fail. He was the son of the late Ernest and Jeanette Wimmer Daniel. Survivors include his daughter and son-in-law, Shirley and Ray Waldroupe; two grandsons, Steve Waldroupe and David Waldroupe; one great-granddaughter, Amanda Waldroupe all of Greeneville, Tenn.; two sisters, Dorothy Sigmon of Callaway, Irene Wilson of Roanoke; one brother-in-law, Guy Wilson of Roanoke; three sisters-in-law, Lena Dixon of Salem, Martha Si gmon of Roanoke, and Annie Ingram of Bassett; several nieces and nephews; special friends, Tom Grindstaff, Ronnie and Carolyn Bettis and members of Adult 5 Men's Class of Towering Oaks Baptist Church. LAUGHON, C. Joseph, 69, of Route 7, Mountain View Drive, Bedford, died Tuesday, April 18, 1995 at his home. He was born in Bedford County December 31, 1925 a son of the late Willie Marvin Holdren Laughon and Ollie Thomas Laughon who survives. He was President of Laughon and Johnson, Inc., a member of Main Street United Methodist Church and an Army Air Corps veteran of World War II. He was preceded in death by his son, Tony Nelson Laughon on August 21, 1981. In addition to his father, he is survived by his wife, Lucille Craghead Laughon; a son, C. Joseph Laughon Jr. and his wife, Melinda Murray Laughon, Darien, Conn.; a daughter, Vickie Laughon McKenna and her husband, John H. McKenna, Lake Wylie, S.C.; two brothers, O. Holmes Laughon and Thomas D. Laughon and his wife, Janice T. Laughon, all of Bedford; two grandsons, John Harms McKenna and Charles Spencer McKenna. MUSE, Rev. Charlie M., 86, of Roanoke County, went to be with the Lord Monday, April 17, 1995. He was a retired Wesleyan Minister having served as an Evangelist and Pastor for 63 years. Duri ng that time he served churches in Cristo, Radford, Mineral and Waynesboro. He was a member of Emmanuel Wesleyan Church for the past 21 years.
