Ex-convict to speak

BLACKSBURG - Bobby Castillo, an ex-convict who has become an advocate for American Indians, will speak at Virginia Tech tonight at 7 in Squires Student Center's Colonial Hall.

His speech, "Changes in the World and Indigenous Peoples," will deal with the North American Free Trade Agreement, Chicano and American Indian movements, Leonard Peltier and other political prisoners, human rights, and spirituality.

The event is free and open to the public.

Employee picnic

DUBLIN - A reunion for employees of Burlington Mills, Klopman Mills and the Newbern Plant will be held 9 a.m.-5 p.m. May 7 at the Appalachian Power Co. picnic grounds. Lunch will start at 1 p.m. Those attending should bring dishes and drinks for their family members.
