BABY IN PHOTO DIES

Unidentified in death even by sex, the baby who was carried from the smoking ruins of the federal building in a photograph displayed on front pages around the world ended up as another of the bombing's victims.

The child was pronounced dead by emergency medical technicians, said firefighter Chris Fields, whose attempt to rescue the baby was captured by an amateur photographer and transmitted worldwide by The Associated Press. The photo ran on the front page of the Roanoke Times & World-News on Thursday.

It's unclear exactly when the youngster died.
