THE OAKS DRAWS PRAISE FROM 2 PUBLICATIONS

The Oaks, a historic bed and breakfast country inn in downtown Christiansburg, has recently drawn praise from two publications.

It is one of only four inns in Virginia chosen this year to be featured in a guidebook to "Romantic Inns of America."

The inn, with its distinctive Victorian gables and turrets, was also featured in the spring edition of Mid-Atlantic magazine. "Capping a slight knoll that rises just outside the center of town, The Oaks seems to have been lifted straight out of a Victorian design book," says the magazine.

Globe Pequot Press out of Old Saybrook, Conn., which publishes a series of regional guides to bed and breakfasts across the United States, this year selected The Oaks for its national book of "Romantic Inns of America."

The three other Virginia inns mentioned are: the Page House Inn in Norfolk, the Brookside Bed and Breakfast in Millwood near Winchester and the Bailiwick Inn in Fairfax.

"It's a real honor to be in this," said Margaret Ray, who along with her husband, Tom, owns The Oaks. "These editors have visited and written about inns all over America, and their opinion means something."
