Benefit dinner

HIWASSEE - A dinner at Snowville Elementary School to benefit the Snowville Volunteer Fire Department will be offered from 3:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. Saturday.

Tickets are $6 for adults and $3 for children under 12. They are available from members of the Fire Department in advance or at the door.

The dinner includes ham, chicken, mashed potatoes, green beans, slaw, hot rolls and drinks. It is the department's only fund-raiser. Last year's dinner drew 863 people.

License deadline

CHRISTIANSBURG - Business licenses in Christiansburg are due Sunday.

Licenses can be obtained at the Municipal building, 100 East Main St., 8 a.m.-5 p.m. For more information call the town at 382-9519.

Special Olympics

RADFORD - Area Nine Special Olympics Spring Games will be held Saturday at Radford High School's Bobcat Stadium.

The event is free and open to the public, and volunteers are needed. If you are interested in volunteering, register between 8 and 8:30 a.m. or call 231-3147.

Kindergarten sign-ups

Kindergarten in all public school systems is available for children who will be 5 years old by Sept. 30, 1995, and either kindergarten or first grade is required for all children who will be 6 years old by Sept. 30, 1995.
