RU choir to sing Stravinsky work

RADFORD - Radford University Choir performs the revised edition of Stravinsky's "Les Noces" tonight in Preston Hall auditorium.

The Radford Singers Choir will be accompanied by four pianists and members of the University Percussion and Marimba Ensemble. The ballet is comprised of four movements and represents the rituals and activities of a Russian peasant wedding.

The production is directed by David Otis Castonguay, university director of choral activities. Castonguay traveled last summer to London and Basel, Switzerland to compare the original manuscripts of "Les Noces" to the published materials and created a new set of performing material for tonight's world premire. The new score is a systematic phonetization of the original Russian text.

Tonight's performance is at 8 p.m.
