Glynn drove in his first run in the Keydets' five-run fifth inning that included Franco Martin's two-run triple and Nate Shepperson's two-run single. Glynn, a junior, also drove in a run in the third inning, two in the fifth, and hit a three-run homer, his 14th of the season, in the ninth.

Jay Adams (4-6) struck out nine and scattered seven hits for the complete-game victory for VMI, which plays in today's 1 p.m. elimination game against Marshall, an 8-5 winner over Davidson. Appalachian State finished at 17-30-1.

In other baseball:

Jim Abbott set a Radford season record with his eighth win of the season in a 9-0 two-hit shutout of Liberty at Dedmon Center Park in Radford. Abbott (8-2) struck out nine batters as Radford improved to 25-20 overall and 12-4 in the Big South. Abbott broke Phil Leftwich's 1989 record of seven victories.

The Highlanders and Flames both trail first-place Winthrop (14-4) in the Big South and meet in a doubleheader at 1 p.m. today in Radford. The Big South champion, determined by most league victories, will play the winner of the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference in a play-in game for the NCAA Tournament.

Louisville rallied from a three-run deficit in the last two innings to beat visiting Virginia Tech 7-6 in Metro Conference baseball, handing the Hokies (25-22, 6-7) their 11th one-run loss of the season.

Tech pounded out 16 hits against Cardinals pitcher Jeremy McGraw (6-4), but 14 of them were singles. Brian Fitzgerald went seven-plus innings, leaving the game after walking a batter in the eighth and going to a 2-0 count on the second hitter. Louisville (15-34, 4-9) tagged Hokies closer Charlie Gillian (2-2) with the loss.

Leo Burke, an all-conference outfielder at Virginia Tech in 1954, 1955 and 1956, has been named to the Southern Conference's 75th Anniversary Baseball Team. Burke hit .327 in his Tech career before playing eight seasons in the major leagues. Former Duke shortstop Dick Groat, who was the National League's batting champion and most valuable player in 1960, was the team's leading vote-getter.
