ROANOKE AMONG LEADERS IN NEW JOBS

The Roanoke metro area saw the second-fastest job growth among Virginia's eight urban areas during the 12 months ending Feb. 28, state labor officials said Friday.

Companies that provide business, engineering and management services led the region by adding 2,600 jobs, the Virginia Employment Commission said. The Roanoke area's largest gains were in services and trade because it serves the western third of the state, the VEC said. It reported more moderate gains in manufacturing, construction and finance sectors.
