ADAMS, Mattie A. Mrs., 100, of Marion, Va., died Thursday, April 27, 1995, in Valley Health Care Center in Chilhowie, Va. She was the widow of her husband, Alex Adams. She is survived by one daughter, Louise Catron, Marion; two sons, Dennis J. Adams of Grant, Va., William J. Adams, Roanoke; eight grandchildren; nine great grandchildren. Several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held Saturday, April 29, 1995, at 2:30 p.m. at Seaver-Brown Chapel with Dr. J. N. Howard officiating. The family will receive friends Saturday afternoon from 1:30 until 2:30 p.m. at Seaver-Brown Chapel. Seaver-Brown Funeral Service is in charge of the arrangements.

ALDERMAN, Claude E., 69, of Martinsville, died Friday, April 28, 1995. Funeral 2 p.m. Sunday, Woodland Heights Freewill Baptist Church. Arrangements by Tomlinson Funeral Home, Ridgeway.

ARGABRIGHT, Ethel Mae Graybill, 81, of Roanoke, passed away Thursday, April 27, 1995. Graveside services 10 a.m. Saturday, Mountain View Cemetery.

BAGWELL, Edward R., of Columbia, S.C., whose company played a major role in changing the face of downtown areas in Columbia, Spartanburg, Raleigh, and Roanoke, died Thursday, April 27, 1995. He was born in Greenville, S.C. on November 14, 1941. The Landrum, South Carolina native was Chairman of the Board and Chief Executive officer of Southwind, Ltd., of Columbia. Since 1977, Southwind, Ltd. has been engaged in the development and management of commercial office, retail and parking space. Among the properties the company has developed are the Wachovia Building, 1333 Main Building and First Union Building in Columbia. Southwind also developed the First Union Capitol Center in Raleigh, Nations Plaza in Spartanburg and 111 Franklin Plaza in Roanoke. Since 1991, Bagwell and Southwind have been active in real estate development activities with First Union National Bank in North Carolina, South Carolina, Virginia and Florida. Mr. Bagwell's education includes a Bachelor of Arts degree in Economics from Wofford College, S partanburg, S.C., Magna Cum Lade, in 1970, Master of Business Administration from the University of South Carolina, Columbia, S.C., in 1971, and the University of South Carolina, PhD. Program, written and oral comprehensive exams completed in June, 1972. Mr. Bagwell's experience in the areas of marketing, management, finance, accounting and economics and his expertise in the development, leasing and management of commercial real estate, led Southwind, Ltd. to become a leader in the revitalization of downtown areas. Mr. Bagwell's professional and honorary associations include Delta Phi Alpha (National Honorary German Fraternity), Omicron Delta Epsilon (National Honorary Society in Economics, Beta Gamma Sigma (National Honorary Society in Business Administration, Phi Beta Kappa, Southern Economic Association, American Academy of Political and Social Science, American Marketing Association, and Doctoral Club in Business and Economics, University of South Carolina, President 1971 - 1972. Among his publications is ""The Commercial Bank and The Corporate Funds Manager - Past Time for Change"", published in the Journal of Commercial Banking in September, 1978. Mr. Bagwell leaves to cherish his memory, his wife, Marianne J. Bagwell. Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Sunday, April 30, 1995, at First Baptist Church, Columbia, S.C. The family will receive visitors at Dunbar Funeral Home (Gervais Street), Columbia, S.C., Saturday, from 6 to 8 p.m. Donations may be made to Wofford College, Spartanburg, S.C. or the American Heart Association of S.C., P. BLANKENSHIP, Viola Shifflett, 87, of Roanoke County, passed away Thursday, April 27, 1995. Mrs. Blankenship was a longtime member of Red Hill Church of God and the First Church of God and was the widow of Melvin O. Blankenship. Surviving are her daughters and sons-in-law, Mary and Marvin Sink, Bea and Allen Sink, all of Roanoke County; her son and daughter-in-law, Carl (Polly) and Lillian Blankenship, Roanoke County; seven grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; her brother and sister-in-law, Elijah and Marie Shifflett, Vinton. Funeral services will be held at First Church of God (Hildebrand Road) Monday, May 1, 1995, 11 a.m. with the Rev. Jim Milner and the Rev. Frank Blevins officiating. Interment will be in Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends Saturday 6 to 8 p.m. and Sunday 1 to 3 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. at Oakey's South Chapel.

BOND, James Arthur, 95 of Indian Valley, passed away Thursday, April 27, 1995, at his home. He was a retired self-employed Saw Mill Operator. Survivors include one son and and daughter-in-law, Reif and Connie Bond, Indian Valley; two daughters and one son-in-law, Edith E. Turman, Willis, Odetta and Wesley Terry, Christiansburg; one sister, Breskie Simmons, Monticello, Ind.; 8 grandchildren; 10 great grandchildren; 9 great great grandchildren. Funeral services will be 3 p.m., Saturday at the Maberry Funeral Home Chapel, Floyd with Elder Hale Terry and Elder Larry Hollandsworth officiating. Burial will follow in the Quesenberry Cemetery.

KINGERY, Fannie E., 84, of Roanoke County, died Friday, April 28, 1995. She was a daughter of the late, Bud and Lora Kingery and is survived by a sister-in-law, Dossie Kingery, Roanoke; and a devoted brother-in-law, Luther G. Sexton, Roanoke; also surviving are several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be conducted 2 p.m. Sunday, April 30, 1995, at Lotz Roanoke Chapel with Rev. G. Ernest Deyerle and Rev. J. E. Edwards officiating. Interment will follow in Campbell Cemetery, Roanoke County. The family will receive friends at Lotz Roanoke Chapel, 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m., Saturday, April 29, 1995.

MYERS, Harrison Currell, 84, of Austinville, passed away Friday, April 28, 1995 at Twin County Regional Hospital. He was born July 5, 1910. He is survived by his wife, Louise Myers; five daughters and sons-in-law, Olene and Haywood Thompson of Martinsville, Ollie & Buford Newman of Austinville, Jaunita Stone of Austinville, Bonnie and Ray Burnette of Austinville, Frances and Billy Mabe of Max Meadows; one brother, Harold Myers of Austinville; four sisters, Mildred White of Hillsville, Minnie Taylor, Helen Myers and Maggie White, all of Austinville; seven grandchildren; twelve great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, April 30, 1995, at the Hillsville First United Methodist Church. Interment will follow in the Myers family cemetery. SCOTT, Mary Emerson, 41, of Roanoke, died Thursday, April 27, 1995. She was a former employee of Roanoke Memorial Hospital and Community Hospital Of Roanoke Valley. She was preceded in death by her mother, Esther Reed Emerson. She is survived by husband, David M. Scott, Jr.; daughter, Kathryn Rose Scott; father, James W. Emerson; brothers, Joe Emerson, Charles Emerson, Reed Emerson; sister, Katherine Emerson. Graveside services will be held 2 p.m. Monday, May 1, 1995, at Evergreen Burial Park with Dr. Jerry O. Campbell officiating. Family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday at Oakey's Roanoke Chapel. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the American Cancer Society.

SIZEMORE, Frank D. 59, of Salem, died Friday, April 28, 1995. He is preceded in death by a son, Gary Scott Sizemore. He is survived by his wife, Ada Brown Sizemore; son, Frank Sizemore Jr., Catawba; daughter, Teresa Sizemore, of the home; granddaughter, Morgan Sizemore, Roanoke; sisters, Shirley Horne, Margie Sizemore, both of Salem. Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Monday, May 1, 1995, at the John M. Oakey & Son Funeral Home Chapel, Salem, with the Rev. Loraine Taylor officiating. SPRAKER, Fannie Mae, 88, of Roanoke, died Friday, April 28, 1995. She was the widow of Daniel Bert Spraker and was a self-employed seamstress. Surviving are her son, Earl Spraker, Mollusk; grandchildren, Amy and Bruce Spraker; three great-grandchildren; a sister, Alice Arnold, Roanoke. In lieu of flowers the family request that memorials be made to the American Heart Association. A graveside service will be conducted 10 a.m. Monday in Sherwood Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 3 to 4:30 p.m. Sunday at Oakey's North Chapel.

WATTS, John W. III, 52, of Roanoke, passed away Thursday, April 27, 1995. He was preceded in death by his wife, Patricia S. Watts, and his father, John W. Watts II. Surviving are a daughter, Mitzi L. Watts; two sons, John W. ``Johnny"" Watts IV, Bruce G. Watts, all of Roanoke; mother, Rosalie L. Watts, Buchanan. A memorial service will be at 11:30 a.m. Monday from Oakey's North Chapel with Pastor Walter L. Wood officiating. Interment will be private. Arrangements by Oakey's North Chapel.

WITTEN, Nancy Rose, 87, of Roanoke, died Friday, April 28, 1995. Arrangements are incomplete and being handled by Peery & St. Clair Funeral Home, Tazewell.
