STRAWBERRY FESTIVAL IS SCHEDULED FOR MAY 5-6

Community School's 15th annual Strawberry Festival will take place in Crestar Plaza, near the Roanoke City Market, May 5-6, from 10:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.

Strawberries in sundaes, shortcakes, slushes or covered with chocolate can be bought for $2.75-$3.75. There will be entertainment including musicians, jugglers, magic acts and children's games.

The school expects to sell 7,200 shortcakes, using 4,800 pints of fresh berries and gallons of whipped cream and ice cream.

Advance tickets are on sale at Heironimus (downtown), Mill Mountain Coffee and Tea (city market), Roanoke Natural Foods Co-op (Raleigh Court), Brooks-Byrd Pharmacy (Salem), Wildflour Cafe (Towers Mall) and Books-a-Million (Crossroads Mall). Tickets will also be sold at the event.
