TIME FOR OUR ANNUAL WRITING CONTEST

It's the year 2095. Do you envision aliens from outer space picnicking in the park? How about flying cars that run on solar power? Is the White House's Oval Office occupied by a woman?

Whatever you envision, you have an opportunity to share it with NewsFun readers and, at the same time, have a chance at becoming a published author and winning a prize for your efforts.

It's time for NewsFun's annual writing contest, and all you have to do is write about what you think life will be like in the year 2095.

Your essay must be original; we want only your ideas. It should not be something you read or heard about from someone else.

You can make your essay as short as you like, but it can be no longer than 200 words. You can submit an illustration with your writing if you want.

Entries in the contest will be divided into three age groups: kindergarten-second grade; third-fifth grade; and sixth-eighth grade. Winners in each age group will receive a Roanoke Times & World-News comics umbrella, and their teachers will receive a Roanoke Times & World-News thermal mug.

Here's all you have to do:

Submit an original essay telling what you think life will be like in the year 2095. It should not be longer than 200 words, and you may illustrate it if you wish.

Include your name, grade, school, home address, home telephone number and school telephone number on a separate piece of paper, attached to your entry.

Mail your entry to NewsFun's Writing Contest, Roanoke Times & World-News, P.O. Box 2491. Roanoke, Va. 24010-2491.

All entries must be received by May 24 at midnight.
