CLARK, Melvin Linwood Sr., 60, of Martinsville, died Saturday, April 29, 1995 in Memorial Hospital of Martinsville-Henry County. Born in Rockbridge County on March 30, 1935, he was the son of Audrey Coleman Clark of Lexington and the late Graham Berry Clark Sr. He was a road driver for Virginia Carolina Freight Lines. He was a board member of the Dan River ASAP, Martinsville Elks Club, and McCutchan Presbyterian Church. He had also served in the National Guard. He was pr edeceased by two sons, Anthony Ray Clark and Rickey Lee Clark, and three brothers, Joseph Ray Clark, Charles Berry Clark and Thurman Henry Clark. He is survived by his mother; his wife, Joanne Spence Clark; two daughters, Linda Clark France of Bassett and Carol Clark Darnell of Martinsville; four sons, Melvin Linwood Clark Jr. of Ferrum, Kenneth Ray Clark of Martinsville, George Ferguson Clark of Williamsburg, and Timothy Wayne Clark of Salem; ten grandchildren; three sisters, Beulah C. Wagner of Silver Spring, Md., Lissie C. Norcross of Fairfield and Lora C. McCurdy of Colonial Heights; one brother, Graham Berry Clark Jr. of Fairfield. Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Tuesday, May 2, 1995 at the Lomax Funeral Home Chapel, with the Rev. Phillip Mace officiating. Interment will be in Green Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Monday, May 1, 1995 from 7 to 9 p.m. Memorial donations may be made to the American Heart Association or the American Cancer Society.

BALILES, Nora P., 82, of Stuart, died Sunday morning, April 30, 1995 at the North Carolina Baptist Hospital in Winston-Salem. Mrs. Baliles was born in Chesterfield Co., Va. to the late Joseph and Nora E. Branch Puckett. She was retired from United Elastic in Stuart and was a homemaker. Mrs. Baliles was preceded in death by her husband, Syrus L. Baliles and a son, Albert W. Ligon Jr. Mrs. Nora Baliles is survived by a son, Raymond Ligon of Hollywood, Fla.; a daughter, Mrs. Wayne (Lois) Hammon of Clarksville, Penn.; three stepsons, former Gov. Gerald L. Baliles, Richmond, Larry Baliles, Stuart and Stuart Baliles, Valdosta, Ga.; one brother, Joseph W. Puckett, Richmond; two sisters, Magnolia Blomel, Dade City, Fla., and Irene Myers of Luenburg Court House, Va.; 11 grandchildren; and one great-granddaughter. Funeral services for Mrs. Baliles will be conducted Tuesday m orning at 11 a.m. in the Fairystone Baptist Church, with interment to follow in the church cemetery. DICKERSON, Harless L., 77, of Christiansburg, died Saturday, April 29,1995 in a Radford hospital. Beginning in 1955, he and his wife owned and operated the Do Drop Inn in Cambria. Although he had been disabled for a number of years, he continued to reside there. He was preceded in death by his wife of over fifty years, Ann Altizer Dickerson. Surviving are his son a nd daughter-in-law, Michael and Donna Dickerson; his two daughters and sons-in-law, Paulette and J. D. Lambert and Vicki and Marshall Linkous, all of Christiansburg; his brother and sister-in-law, Harlow and Alice Dickerson, Riner; two sisters, Mary Thornton, Christiansburg and Emaline Agee, Radford; special friends Luke Brumfield and Bobby Altizer. He is aldo survived by four granddaughters, Kimberly Dickerson, Jonette Lambert, Lisa Martin, all of Christiansburg and Robin Beatty, Gastonia, N.C.; five great-grandchildren, Lottie Anne Simmons, Alicia, Zachary and Scott Martin and Leigh Beatty; and several nieces and nephews. The funeral will be 11 a.m. Tuesday from the Richardson-Horne Chapel, conducted by the Rev. Richard H. Horne, with burial in Sunset Cemetery. DICKSON, Oneda Clark, 84, of Roanoke, passed away Sunday, April 30, 1995. She was preceded in death by a son, Willard Pizer Clark. Surviving are her sons and daughters-in-law, Fred and Margie Dickson, Earl and Judy Dickson, all of Roanoke, Raymond Dickson, Calif., Aubrey (Doug) and Phyllis Dickson, Colonial Heights, Gary and Madeline Dickson, Elliston; daughters and sons-in-law, Ruby Lee, Calif., Betty and Jerry Camper, Roanoke, Shirley and Donald (Duck) Sartin, Boones Mill; 26 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; 2 great-great-grandchildren; sisters, Margaret Banton, Roanoke, Nadine Eaton, Fredericksburg, Elizabeth Fuller, Roanoke; daughter-in-law, Jewell Clark, Roanoke. ENDICOTT, Mary Ward, of Bland, died Saturday, April 29, 1995 in the Kegley Manor Nursing Home in Bastian, Va. She was born at the Highlands in Wytheville, the daughter of the late Bernard C. and Lucy W. Ward. Prior to retirement, Mrs. Endicott was the first music teacher for Bland Elementary and High School and later, the first librarian at the Wythe County Library. She was preceded in death by her husband, Allen Brown Endicott III of Atlantic City, N.J. She is survived by one son and daughter-in-law, Thomas B. and Deborah A. Dunn; one daughter and son-in-law, Sarah D. and George D. Brackens, all of Bland; two grandchildren, James C. Dunn, Kelly A. Dunn, both of Bland; one sister, Aletha W. Wallace of Margate, N.J. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, May 2, 1995 at 11 a.m. at St. John's Episcopal Church in Wytheville with the Rev. Laurie McAlpine officiating. Interment will follow in the East End Cemetery. The family will receive friends at St. John's Episcopal Church one hour before service time. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Bland County Volunteer Rescue Squad. FALLON, Gary Robert, of Lexington, Head Football Coach at Washington and Lee University since 1978, died suddenly Saturday, April 29, 1995 at his home. He was 56 years old, born April 3, 1939 in Watertown, New York, a son of Mary Campisi Fallon of Watertown, New York and the late Thomas Patrick Fallon. Coach Fallon was a member of the American Football Coaches Association and served on the NCAA Division III Ranking Committee. He also worked as an official for Collegiate Lacr osse games in both the ACC and NCAA Tournaments. He was also a member of the St. Patrick's Catholic Church. Surviving, in addition to his mother, his wife, Patricia Grant Fallon, Lexington; three daughters and sons-in-law, Kelly and Eliseo Cidre, Burtonsville, Md., Carrie and Jeff Ax, Altus, Okla., Susan and Richard Poli, Philadelphia, Pa; seven grandchildren, Benjamin and Alexander Cidre, Emily, Taylor and Shane Ax, Mason and Ashley Poli; brother and sister-in-law, Patrick and Theresa Fallon, Watertown, N.Y. Funeral services will be conducted 11 a.m. Wednesday, May 3, 1995 from the Lee Chapel with Father J. Morton Biber officiating. GEARHART, Elizabeth Pedigo, 82, of Vinton, died Sunday, April 30, 1995 in a local nursing home. She was the widow of Robert E. Gearhart Sr. and was also preceded in death by a son, Robert E. Gearhart Jr. She was a member of Vinton Baptist Church and a retired registered nurse from Jefferson Hospital. Surviving are grandchildren, Debra J. Gearhart, Robert E. Gearhart III, Richard S. Gearhart, all of Greensboro, N.C.; step grandchildren, John and Sandy Ritter, Robert and Yvonne Ritter, all of Vinton; a daughter-in-law, Joyce Heath Gearhart, Vinton; sister, Mrs. Lounelle P. Gearing, Roanoke; several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be conducted from Oakey's Vinton Chapel, 2:30 p.m. Tuesday, May 2, with the Rev. Dr. William L. Ross officiating. MARTIN, Joyce Jones, of Richmond, formally of Catlett, died Sunday, April 30, 1995. She was an alumna of Jefferson High School in Roanoke, Richmond Professional Institute (now V.C.U.), and Stuart Circle Hospital Nursing School. She is survived by her husband Stuart Desmond Martin; four children, Stuart D. Martin Jr., Helen Virginia Deford, Allison Marie Gasser, and Joyce Lyle Martin. Her remains rest at Joseph W. Bliley Funeral Home Staples Mill Chapel, 8510 Staples Mill Road, where the family will receive friends Monday from 4 to 9 p.m. A funeral service will be held 2 p.m. Tuesday at Emmanuel Episcopal Church Richmond with interment in the church cemetery.

MURPHY, Madeleine T., of Roanoke, died Sunday, April 30, 1995 at her home. She met her husband, of 47 years, in France during WWII. She was formerly employed by S. H. Heironimus in downtown Roanoke. Surviving are her husband, W. PRATT, Eula Shillingburg, 80, of Narrows, died Sunday, April 30, 1995 in the Giles Memorial Hospital in Pearisburg. She was born at Welch, W.Va. on April 4, 1915 and was the daughter of the late Oliver and Alice Shillingburg. She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert H. Pratt and a son, Robert H. Pratt Jr. She is survived by two daughters and thier husbands, Anna Lee and Jerry Frazier of Narrows, Barbara Lynn and Robert Tate of Virginia Beach; two sisters, Polly Weise, Sun City, Ariz., Nina McElvie, Lonaconing, Md.; grandchildren, Jerry Kelly Frazier of Narrows, Scott Frazier of Releigh, N.C., Bryan Frazier of Camp Lejune, N.C., Mandy Lynn Tate, Robert Aaron Tate and Katie Tate all of Virginia Beach; great-grandchildren, Meaghan, Nathan, Kelly Elizabeth Fr azier, Narrows, Alec Frazier, Raleigh, N.C. RITCHIE, Katherine Forrer, 92, a resident of Oak Hill Health Care Center, Staunton, former resident of Churchville, died Saturday, April 29, 1995 at Augusta Medical Center. She was born January 27, 1903 in Stuarts Draft, a daughter of the late John and Nellie (Kenney) Forrer. She attended Harrisonburg State Teachers College and taught school in Augusta County. She was a member of Churchville Woman's Club and St. Peter's Lutheran Church of Churchville. Surviving are a sister, Regina F. Harris; and a brother, William Jacob Forrer, both of Roanoke; and a number of nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Fred H. Ritchie, daughter, Betty Ann (Ritchie) Clem, three brothers, John, Samuel and Charles Forrer and two sisters, Nellie Werner and Virginia Kenney. A graveside service will be conducted 5 p.m. Monday in Green Hill Cemetery, Churchville, by the Rev. Gregory John Briehl. Bear Funeral Home in Churchville is handling arrangements.

SMITH, Donald Julanney, 82, of Pembroke, died Sunday, April 30,1995 in Blacksburg, Va. Born in Giles County, Va. on May 23, 1912, he was a son of the late Chapman E. Tawney and Sarah Jane Bessie Smith. He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, New River Ward in Pembroke. Parr of Pembroke; and numerous nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be conducted Tuesday, May 2, 1995, at the Kendall Funeral Home in Pembroke at 11 a.m., with burial in Boyds Chapel Cemetery at Pembroke. She is survived by her husband, Cameron L. Wolfe Sr. of Marion; one son, Cameron L. Wolfe Jr. of Marion; five sisters, Stella Wells of Winston Salem, N.C., Blanche Reedy of Sugar Grove, Ruth Fisher of Salem, Golda Burton of Roanoke, and June Wilson of Marion; one grandson, Cameron J. Wolfe of Marion. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, May 2, at 11 a.m. at Seaver-Brown Chapel. Burial will follow in Rose Lawn Cemetery.
