WEEKEND MARKET TO BE NAMED FOR FOUNDER

A weekly family market in downtown Pulaski will be named for the late Fred Goad, who worked to set it up before he died last week.

The Fred Goad New River Valley Market will start on schedule the morning of May 13 and continue each Saturday, said Roscoe Cox, executive director of Pulaski's Board of Economic Development.

Cox had secured permission from Goad's family to name the market in Goad's memory. "He was a very fine man, and he helped me tremendously," Cox said.

Marlis Ryssel-Flynn, president of the Pulaski Business Alliance which is helping to get the market started, said Goad had pretty well completed finding vendors to bring items to the weekly market for sale.

She said those vendors contacted by Goad should still plan to participate in the first market during the second Saturday of May, and should get in touch with Cox (at 980-5342) to confirm their plans.

The weekly markets will be held on the parking lot of the Pulaski County Administration Building.
