MONTGOMERY SCHOOL BOARD INTERVIEWS SET|

The Montgomery County Board of Supervisors will interview four candidates for two School Board appointments Wednesday.

The interviews begin at 6:30 p.m. on the third floor of the Montgomery County Courthouse in Christiansburg. They are open to the public. The seats and candidates include:

District C, representing the Alleghany Springs, Elliston, Ironto, Lafayette, Shawsville and Sugar Grove areas. Mary Beth Dunkenburger of Elliston is seeking the seat. Incumbent Becky Raines of Lafayette has applied for reappointment.

The Blacksburg seat. Jim Klagge is seeking the seat. School Board Chairman Roy Vickers is seeking re-appointment.

Raines and Vickers were first appointed in 1991. The Blacksburg and District C appointments will take effect July 1 and will last 18 months. Beginning in 1998, District C will be filled by election; the Blacksburg spot will be eliminated.

Aside from the interviews, the Board of Supervisors will hold a public hearing at 7 p.m. Monday to solicit input. The board is expected to make the appointments later this month.
