ROANOKE REGIONAL ECONOMIC INDICATORS

The Roanoke Valley Association of Realtors reported that 299 houses were placed under contract last month, down 25.6 percent from 402 in March and off 26.2 percent from 405 in April 1994. The median price held steady at $89,950 between March and April and was nearly the same as $89,500 a year ago.

On the average, buyers paid 3.1 percent less than the listed price. Properties spent an average of 158 days on the market. There are 2,017 homes for sale in the valley.
