4-H CAMPING

Montgomery County youths can sign up to attend a five-day camping trip at Smith Mountain Lake 4-H Educational Center. The camp will be August 7-11 and is open to 4-H and non-4-H members ages 9 to 13.

The camp's objectives are to provide campers with recreational and educational experiences in outdoor living, opportunities to develop leadership abilities and opportunity to explore nature, music and other interests. Classes in archery, canoeing, horsemanship, drama, environmental science, electric energy and crafts will also be offered.

The 4-H Center is located on a 120-acre peninsula in Franklin County. It has dining and lodging facilities, conference rooms and recreational facilities, including an Olympic-size swimming pool.

Registration deadline is due to the Montgomery County Extension office by Saturday, July 1. Registration is on a first-come basis. The cost of the camp is $90. For more information and application call 382-5790.
