Letter carriers collect food for needy

Local letter carriers will collect non-perishable food items left near neighborhood mailboxes May 13 as part of the fourth annual Letter Carrier Food Drive. All food collected will be delivered to the Southwestern Food Bank.

The drive, a cooperative effort of the U.S. Postal Service, The United Way, and the AFL-CIO, brought in million of pounds of food last year for community food banks across the country.

To participate, leave non-perishable items by mailboxes early enough to catch the local letter carrier.
