ALISON K. SHERWIN, a senior at Dickinson College, Carlisle, Penn., recently was inducted into the Phi Beta Kappa Honor Society.

Sherwin is the daughter of Dr. and Mrs. Richard N. Sherwin and a graduate of Patrick Henry High School.

WAKE FOREST UNIVERSITY in Winston-Salem, N.C., has announced the names of the Roanoke Valley students named to the 1994 fall semester dean's list: Ashley Lauren Berry, sophomore; David Arthur Kunkle, freshman; Kathleen Hathaway Vance, junior; Marshall August Wakat III, senior; Marty Allen Wakat, junior; and Douglas Sears Wilson, senior.

HEATHER KARA STURM, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Lewis C. Sturm Jr. of Roanoke, earned the Roanoke Scholarship Fund at David Lipscomb University in Nashville, Tenn.

CHRISTOPHER MICHAEL HANCOCKand TUYET THIS ANH TRAN, both of Roanoke, were named to the fall dean's list at Randolph-Macon College.

C. ZEKE BARLOW, son of Chris and Christie Barlow of Roanoke, has been named to the dean's commendation list at Gettysburg (Pa.) College.

Barlow is a graduate of Cave Spring High School.

ANITA ELIZABETH SEAGLE and SAMUEL P. WATSON, juniors at Radford University, have been picked by faculty members as nominee's for the school's Dean's Scholars award. Nominees are then reviewed by the dean's committee and one student is chosen for the award.

TRACY L. DODSON, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. G. Wayne Dodson of Roanoke, has been named to the dean's list at the University of Richmond.

ROANOKE COUNTY DIVISION SCIENCE FAIR WINNERS have been announced. The first-, second- and third-place winners competed the in the Regional Science Fair at Roanoke College.

Placing in physics, engineering and computer science were: Michael Beachy, first, Cave Spring High; Brian Sutton, second, William Byrd High; Rimjhim Sarkar, third, Cave Spring High; Kelly Duncan, honorable mention, Northside High; Perry Taylor Jr., honorable mention, Glenvar High; and Leslie Flowers, honorable mention, Cave Spring Junior.

Winners in biochemistry and microbiology were: Daniel Penn, first, Cave Spring Junior; Laura Tessendorf, second, Cave Spring High Governor's School; Suzanne Squire, third, Cave Spring High; Grace Lasker, honorable mention, Cave Spring High; Jill Nussbaum, honorable mention, Cave Spring High; and Paula Katz, honorable mention, Cave Spring High.

Placing in medicine, health and chemistry were: Meeno Jain, first, Cave Spring High Governor's School; Yasmin Jilla, second, Northside High Governor's School; Deepa Channaiah, third, William Byrd High Governor's School; Courtney Cochran, honorable mention, Cave Spring High; Stuart Bray, honorable mention, Northside High; and Jennifer Minton, honorable mention; Cave Spring High.

Winners in behavioral and social sciences were: Christine Grecus, first, William Byrd High ; Stacy Graves, second; Cave Spring High Governor's School; Martin Kessler, third, William Byrd High; and Meredith Holcomb, honorable mention, William Byrd High.

Placing in botany and zoology were: Sarah Airey, first, Northside High Governor's School; Stephanie Ogilvie, second, Cave Spring High; Jennifer O'Meara, third, Cave Spring High Governor's School; Kristin Willis, honorable mention, William Byrd High; and Debra Masters, honorable mention, Cave Spring High.
