The Roanoke Stars 12 and under girls basketball team finished first in the AAU State Tournament in Charlottesville April 23.
The team will compete in the national tournament in Oklahoma City in July.
Roanoker swimmer earns Virginia title a Ginny Johnson, 13, of Roanoke,
has been named Virginia's Swimmer of the Year for 13-14-year-old girls for the 1994-94 season.
Johnson was recognized at United States Swimming's annual state banquet held recently in Richmond.
Johnson, a pupil at North Cross School, set a state record at the Virginia State Independent Schools Swimming Championships this year. She also competed in the USS Senior National Championships in Minneapolis in March.
She is the daughter of Debbie and Ned Johnson of Roanoke.
