The county Board of Supervisors heard from agencies and organizations Monday night seeking money in the budget.
The board considered a 2.25 percent salary hike for its employees, effective in December along with raises for constitutional officers. They decided to go ahead with 3 percent after learning that the delayed 2.25 percent would save the county only $8,000.
Noting that the School Board still had a 4 percent salary increase budgeted for its employees, the supervisors decided to take the $8,000 from the school budget.
The board approved a loan of $25,000 to the Pulaski County Public Library toward an automated circulation system. Another $10,000 will come from the state, leaving $5,000 to be found elsewhere to complete the project.
The loan will come from county reserve funds and is to be repaid by the state at 5 percent interest.
The supervisors declined a request for $25,000 from the Friends of the Pulaski Theatre, which is working on restoring Pulaski's former Main Street movie theater as an arts and community center.
The building was given to the county after closing as a movie theater more than four years ago. Last year, the county gave the Friends group two years to show some progress in restoring it.
