POLICE SEEK BIKE-RIDING RAPIST

A 40-year-old woman told police she was raped by a man on a bicycle who threatened to kill her, then took her to an abandoned house in Northwest Roanoke.

The man approached the woman as she walked along the 800 block of Shenandoah Avenue Northwest early Tuesday, then took her to a house on Fairfax Avenue Northwest and raped her, police said. The assailant then took the woman's portable radio, duffel bag and sewing kit. She was treated at Community Hospital of Roanoke Valley, police said.

Another woman, 20 years old and pregnant, told police she was raped at her Northwest Roanoke home by an acquaintance Monday night. Police said the woman was treated at Community Hospital.

The assailant was allowed into the house, but he then shoved the woman onto her bed, pinning her down, police said. The woman told officers the name of the suspect, and detectives are investigating, according to a news release.
