MOTORCYCLE RIDER IS KILLED IN CRASH

A Vinton man was killed Wednesday when his motorcycle and a pickup truck collided head-on in Bedford County.

Sherman Lee Scearles, 26, was riding on Virginia 634 near the Roanoke County line at noon Wednesday when the accient occurred.

According to state police, a pickup truck swerved into Scearles' lane, striking the motorcycle. Another car then ran over Scearles' body.

Scearles was dead at the scene.
