Bobbitt agreed to pay child support to Beatrice Williams and her 2-year-old son, Andrew, whom Bobbitt fathered while he was dating Williams during a separation from his wife, Lorena, in 1992. The deal also will give Bobbitt visitation rights.
``I'm glad it's finally ending,'' Bobbitt said. ``I look forward to seeing my son. I haven't seen him in a long time. I haven't seen him at all.''
Attorneys said the money will come from profits from his X-rated video, ``John Wayne Bobbitt ... Uncut,'' a skinflick with Bobbitt re-enacting the infamous 1993 incident in which his wife cut off his penis with a kitchen knife at their home in Manassas, Va.
Williams' and Bobbitt's attorneys would not disclose the amount of the settlement they reached after a 90-minute meeting with a Niagara County Family Court hearing examiner.
To settle a paternity lawsuit Williams filed last year, Bobbitt was supposed to pay her $50,000 in March. Bobbitt missed the payment because he has yet to receive any of the profits from the movie or other promotional activities, said his attorney, Michael Iacono.
Virtually all of Bobbitt's income has gone to pay off about $300,000 in legal and medical expenses, Iacono said. Bobbitt's former agents and bookkeepers have failed to give an accounting of where all the money has gone, Iacono said. ``John wants to support this child, but he's never been in control of any of his money,'' Iacono said. ``He's not doing this on purpose to avoid paying. He's not what we would call a deadbeat father.''
Bobbitt, 28, initially contested Williams' paternity lawsuit but gave in after two blood tests indicated he was the boy's father. Williams, 23, lives in Lewiston, just north of Bobbitt's hometown of Niagara Falls.
