Ostar, a senior goalie, finished the year second in the conference in save percentage at .658. She played 902 minutes during the season and allowed 108 goals while recording 208 saves. Ostar has 690 career saves, the second-highest total in the Maroons' history.
Roanoke's Tracy Coyne was voted the conference's coach of the year. Coyne led the Maroons to their second straight conference title with a win over top-seeded Washington and Lee in the ODAC tournament. (Complete team in Scoreboard. B8.)

Senior guard Jenny Goode was selected most valuable player of the Radford women's basketball team at the Highlanders' awards banquet.
Goode, who joined the team as a walk-on as a freshman, led the team with 12.3 points and 2.1 steals per game and was second with 3.5 assists.
Junior forward Patti Fisher of Roanoke was chosen best defensive player. Fisher was third on the team 37 steals and third with 4.6 rebounds per game.
Center Dede Logemann, the Big South Women's Basketball Scholar-Athlete for 1994-95, received the academic award. Her 3.8 grade-point average is the highest on Radford's team.
Senior guard Anne Fontaine of Wytheville won the inspiration award. Fontaine, who also plays volleyball for the Highlanders, is a fixture on the Radford Dean's List and the Big South Conference Presidential Honor Roll.
University of Virginia basketball coach Jeff Jones announced that Melvin Whitaker, a 6-10 center from Oak Hill Academy in Mouth of Wilson, has signed a letter of intent with the Cavaliers. Whitaker averaged 10.4 points and 8.6 rebounds a game during the 1994-95 season and had a team-high 142 blocked shots.
Three racers are tied for first place in the Franklin County Speedway points standings going into Saturday's race. Bobby Radford, Dudley Lawhorn and Steve Lynch each have 278 points and can earn $2,000 by winning the 100-lap late model stock car event.
Kenny Minter, Lonnie Foley and Stewart Taylor top the list of new drivers who will race this weekend. Gates open at 2 p.m., qualifying begins at 7 and racing starts at 8.
