ROANOKE MAN FOUND DEAD IN HIS APARTMENT

Roanoke police are investigating the death of a Northwest Roanoke man whose body was found in his apartment Thursday evening.

Charlie Virgil Carter, 68, was found dead on his living-room floor by a friend who had stopped by to visit at Carter's apartment in the 600 block of Eighth Street, according Lt. W.H. Beason.

Police found no signs of forced entry. Blood was found around Carter's head and mouth, but police could not determine a cause of death, Beason said.

Carter's body was taken to the morgue for an autopsy.
