REPORTED EARNINGS

Ground Round

Ground Round Restaurants Inc., Boston-based chain with an outlet in Roanoke County, reported a second-quarter net loss of $1.3 million, equal to 12 cents per share, on revenue of $56.9 million, compared with year-earlier net income of $1.6 million, or 14 cents, on revenue of $59.9 million. For six months, the net loss was $1.2 million, equal to 11 cents per share, on revenue of $119.3 million, compared with $3.1 million, or 28 cents, on revenue of $122.1 million.

Mod-U-Kraf

Mod-U-Kraf Homes Inc., Rocky Mount maker of mobile homes and commercial buildings, reported first-quarter net income of $68,597, or 8 cents per share, on sales of $2 million, compared with a year-earlier net loss of $24,407, equal to 3 cents per share, on sales of $1.4 million.

Modine

Modine Manufacturing Co., Racine, Wis., maker of heating and ventilation equipment with operations in Buena Vista, reported net earnings of $68.4 million, or $2.24 per share, on sales of $913 million for its fiscal year ended March 31, compared with year-earlier $43.9 million, or $1.44 per share on sales of $669.6 million. For its fourth quarter, net earnings were $19.4 million, or 63 cents, on sales of $242.3 million, compared with $10.9 million, or 35 cents, on sales of $193.1 million.

Sterile Concepts

Sterile Concepts Holdings Inc., Richmond maker of custom surgical trays, reported second-quarter earnings of $1.7 million, or 31 cents per share, on sales of $35 million, compared with year-earlier pro-forma earnings of $2.1 million, or 39 cents, on sales of $31.7 million. Sterile Concepts previously was a unit of Carilion Health System of Roanoke.

For six months, net income was $4.1 million, or 74 cents per share, on sales of $70.9 million, compared with $4.1 million, or 75 cents, on sales of $60.7 million.

Vishay

Vishay Intertechnology Inc., Malvern, Pa., maker of passive electronic components for industry and parent of Vitramon Inc. of Roanoke, reported first-quarter earnings of $22 million, or 84 cents per share, on sales of $310.3 million, compared with year-earlier $12.7 million, or 54 cents, on sales of $226 million.
