ALLAWAY, W. Hubert Sr., of Lexington, former director of the U. S. Department of Agriculture Nutrition Laboratory at Cornell University in Ithaca, N.Y., died Tuesday, May 2, 1995 in Lexington, Va. He was 79 years old. Dr. Allaway was a native of Homer, Nebraska. He graduated in 1938 from the University of Nebraska and received his doctorate in 1945 from Iowa State University. He was a soil scientist and nutritional bio-chemist who spent much of his career working for the U. S. Departmental Agriculture. The subject to which he devoted the largest part of his research efforts was the relationship between the presence of various chemical elements in the soil of western lands and the health of animals that grazed on those lands. From 1960 to 1976, Dr. Allaway was director of the USDA's Plant, Soil and Nutrition Laboratory at Cornell, and a professor of soils science agronomy at Cornell. He earlier had taught at both the University of Nebraska and Iowa State University. He was a fellow of the American Society of Agronomy and received an honorary doctorate and distinguished alumnus award in 1971 from the University of Nebraska. He received the Soil Science Research Award of the Soil Science Society of America and the Distinguished Service Award from the U. S. Department of Agriculture. Dr. Allaway was preceded in death by a brother, Howard Allaway, and is survived by his wife, Mildred Holland Allaway, Lexington; son and daughter-in-law, William H. Jr. and Mary Allaway, Austin, Texas; two daughters and sons-in-law, Susan and Lewis LaRue, Lexington, Nancy and Robert Lindsley, Sarasota, Fla.; one brother, Robert Allaway, Somerville, N. J.; two sisters, Eleanor Allaway, New York City, N.Y., Jean Knudsen, Lexington, Nebraska; also four grandchildren. Services will be held Saturday, May 6, 1995, at 11:30 a.m., from the Harrison Funeral Chapel. AKERS, James W., (``J.W.""), 50 of Christiansburg, finished his work on this earth, Tuesday, May 2, 1995. Services will be 1 p.m. Friday from the Christiansburg Church of Christ, conducted by Mr. Tom Hodge with interment to follow in Roselawn Memorial Gardens. CONNER, James Edward, (""Edd""), 84, of Radford, passed away Thursday, May 4, 1995. He was a member of Central United Methodist Church and was a retired security guard with Hercules with 40 years service. Survivors include, his wife, Marie G. Conner, Radford; one son and daughter-in-law, The Rev. John Edward and Joyce Conner, Strasburg; one daughter and son-in-law, Judith C. and David L. Ritter, Radford; one sister, Stella Davis, Princeton, West Va.; beloved sister-in-law, Lucy P. Hassay, South Deerfield, Mass.; grandchildren, Michael D. and Wanda Q. CRISMOND, Dorothy Reed, 75, of Christiansburg, died Wednesday afternoon, May 3, 1995, in a Charlottesville hospital. She was the widow of Harry L. Crismond and is survived by one daughter, Ann Crismond of Charlottesville; a son, Jimmy Crismond, Sandersville, Ga.; one grandson, Nicholas Crismond; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Douglas and Twila Reed of Floyd, Marvin and Lynette Reed of Christiansburg; sisters and brothers-in-law, Frances Cannaday, Juliet and Guy Heinline, all of Christiansburg, Patsy and Ray Baltz, Richmond; several nieces and nephews. The funeral will be 1 p.m. Saturday from the Park United Methodist Church, conducted by the Rev. Mark Christian, with burial in Roselawn Memorial Gardens. HAYMORE, Evelyn Dunigan, 66, of Narrows, died Wednesday, May 3, 1995, in the Princeton Community Hospital, Princeton, W.Va. A lifelong resident of Giles County, she was born on March 18, 1929, and was the daughter of the late William Rexford and Ethel Wall Dunigan. She was a 48 year employee of the Hoechst/Celanses Fibers Company Plant at Narrows, and was a charter member of the Wolf Creek Pentacostal Holiness Church. She is suvived by her husband of 44 years, Billy Haymore; two brothers, Clifford Dunigan, Pearisburg, Freddie Dunigan, Charlotte, N.C.; two sisters, Margaret Dunigan, Bastain, Reda Mae Burress, Narrows; and a host of nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Saturday, in the Chapel of Riffe's Funeral Service in Narrows with the Rev. Sylvia Hill officiating. Burial will follow in the Cedar Grove Cemetery, Rt. 2, Narrows. Friends may call at Riffe's in Narrows after 2 p.m. Friday.

HUFFMAN, Ernest Wade, 68, of Daleville, died from a fire, Wednesday, May 3, 1995. He is survived by his wife, Betty Huffman; sons and daughter-in-law, Ernest W. Huffman Jr., Daleville, Jerry W. Huffman, Douglas E. INGRAM, Willie Edward 87, of Roanoke, died Wednesday, May 3, 1995, in a Roanoke Hospital. He was retired from N & W Railroad with 47 years of service and is survived by his wife, Margrette Cook Ingram; one son and daughter-in-law, Roy E. and Joyce Ingram, Salem; one grandson and his wife, Bruce E. and Elaine A. Ingram, Fincastle; one grandaughter and husband, Janice Faye Ingram and Blake A. Bell, New York City; two great-grandchildren, Sarah E. Ingram, Mark E. Ingram, both of Fincastle. LAMB, Josephine Theresa, 90, of Ft. Worth, Texas, died Sunday, April 30, 1995, in a Ft. Worth, Texas hospital. Formerly of New Castle, Miss Lamb was a retired Registered Nurse. Surviving are her brother, Elbert T. ``Coonie'' Lamb, New Castle; a number of nieces and nephews. LIKINS, Pauline V., 86, of Friendship Manor, Roanoke, died Thursday, May 4, 1995. She was a native of Shawsville and retired from Roanoke Gas Company with more than 40 years of service. Miss Likins was a long time member of First Baptist Church and a member of Virginia Asher Business Women's Council. Surviving are a niece, Wilma H. He was a former member of the Ridgeway Lions Club and the Rid geway Volunteer Fire Department. He was preceded in death by a son, David Wayne Moore, and a daughter, Joyce M. Pforr. SCEARLES, Sherman Lee Jr., 26, of Rt. 1, Vinton, died suddenly Thursday, May 4, 1995, as the result of a motorcycle accident. He is survived by his parents, Sherman L. and Betty L. SEAGLE, Albert McCarty, (``Mack""), 70, of 1315 Krise Circle, Lynchburg, died Thursday, May 4, 1995, peacefully in his home after a long illness. He was born in Edgefield, S.C. on March 12, 1925 a son of Willie Mae Seagle Cook who survives of Rock Hill, S.C. and the late Albert Clemens Seagle. He was the husband of Pauline ``Polly"" Giles Seagle. Mr. Seagle attended schools in Rock Hill, S.C. afterwhich he started his career with the U.S. Postal Service. In 1943 he enlisted in the U.S. Navy and served through the end of World War II. He resumed his postal career in 1946 as a mail carrier and a postal clerk in the Rock Hill, S.C. Post Office. Mr. Seagle completed his training as a U.S. Postal Inspector in 1955 and was assigned to the Bristol Virginia Post Office and in 1962 he transferred to Lynchburg. He also served on the Auditing Committee of The Washington Division and ended his career in 1980 as Director of Finance of the Regional Post Office in Roanoke. He earned a Bachelor of Arts degree from Lynchburg College in 1978 and a Master's Degree in 1980. Mr. Seagle was a member of Centenary United Methodist Church and a number of fraternal organizations including: Kazim Temple, Roanoke, Lynchburg Shrine Club; Rock Hill Masonic Lodge No. 111; Bratton Royal Arch Chapter No. 32; and Rock Hill Commandery No. 15. In addition to his mother and wife, he is survived by three sons, Dr. M. Brent Seagle, Gainsville, Fla., Samuel G. Seagle, Blacksburg, Albert M. Seagle Jr., Roanoke; two daughters, Andrea S. Shamblin, Myrtle Beach, S.C., Mary S. Nelson, Roanoke; one brother, Bruce A. Seagle, Crofton, Md.; two sisters, Rosemary Yount, Newton, N.C., Mrs. Bob Perry Gardner, Lancaster, S.C.; eight grandchildren; seven stepgrandchildren. Memorial services will be held 2 p.m. Saturday, May 6, 1995, at the Centenary United Methodist Church with the Rev. James R. Noland and the Rev. Dr. C. Douglas Pillow officiating. SNEAD, Mattie Bower, 94, of Roanoke, passed away Thursday, May 4, 1995. She was a former employee of Roanoke Garment Company and a member of Peters Creek Church of the Brethren. Mrs. Snead was the widow of Samuel W. Snead. Surviving are her daughter, Josephine V. Keith, Salem; grandchildren, Jacquline Toms, Patricia Whitley, both of Roanoke, David Keith, Salem; seven great-grandchildren; six great-great-grandchildren. UTT, Ella Mae, 73, of Roanoke, died Tuesday night, May 2, 1995, in a local nursing home. Miss Utt was retired from the V.A. Regional Office. She was an active life-long member and choir director of Emmanuel Lutheran Church. She was preceded in death by her parents, the Rev. and Mrs. John W. Utt. Surviving are brothers and sisters-in-law, John W. ("Bill") and Evelyn Utt, Roanoke, James W. O'Neal and wife, Richmond; sister-in-law, Mrs. Elmer L. (Ella) Utt, Roanoke; nephew, J. Wayne Utt; nieces, Marie Utt Hoal, C. Patricia ("Patsy") Utt, Janina ("Nena") Utt Ruedisueli; great-nephews, Luther Utt, C.A. ("Tony") Romagnolo; great-nieces, Cheryl Utt Smith, Cristina ("Tina") Romagnolo; also surviving are a devoted life-long friend, Alyse S. Ashwell, Millersville, Md.; Goddaughters, Cynthia M. WHITE, Georgie Juanita, 68, of Roanoke Co., died Thursday, May 4, 1995 in a Roanoke hospital. She is survived by her husband, Lynn Albert White Sr.; two sons and daughter-in-law, Lynn A. White, both of Roanoke Co.; three daughters and sons-in-law, Christl and Jeffery Garrett, Roanoke Co., Lori and Gary King, Cari and Alan Abell,all of Salem; three brothers, Jerry Wayne Barnett, Roanoke Co., Thomas Barnett, Colonial Heights, Fergie Barnett, Roanoke Co.; one sister, Ellen (Dolly) Poff, Salem; and four grandchildren. WINKLE, Walter, 72, of Riner, passed away Wednesday, May 3, 1995, at his home. He was a retired employee of the Lynchburg Foundry and was owner of Winkles Dairy Farm at Riner. He was a veteran of WW 2, having served in the US Army. Survivors include his wife, Ruby Bain Winkle of Riner; two sons and daughters-in-law, Terry a nd Brenda Winkle of Riner, Bobby and Tammy Winkle of Riner; two brothers, Billy Joe Paskowski of Riner, Johnny Paskowski of Advance, N.C.; one sister, Mrs. Stella Wheeler of Detroit, Mich.; four grandchildren. WRAY, Julia Anne, 84, of Orlando, Fla., formerly of Roanoke, died Wednesday, May 3, 1995. She was born in Pittsburgh, Penn. and worked as a school teacher. She was a member of Good Shepard Catholic Church and a teacher there for 10 years. Survivors include her husband, J.
