Caldwell pitched a one-hitter and struck out 16 as Cave Spring blanked Patrick Henry 6-0. Kenney drilled a homer and a triple to knock in four runs.
GEOFF HILL, Staunton River
In two games against Nelson County, Hill played left and right fields, first base, and pitched in each contest as the Golden Eagles swept a doubleheader, winning 9-8 and 10-5. Hill went 5-for-5, scored three runs and knocked in three. As a pitcher, he went 22/3 innings, allowed one hit and struck out four to record a save. He picked up the victory in the second game with two more shutout innings, allowing no hits and striking out four.
KEVIN FEAZELL, Salem
Feazell pitched and batted the Spartans past Northside 13-4. He slammed two doubles and a homer in three trips to knock in three runs and push his slugging percentage to .810. He struck out four as he ran his record to 4-0.
ALAN TOMLIN, Liberty
Tomlin struck out seven and went the distance while collecting two singles and an RBI in only his second high school start to beat Staunton River 8-4. Tomlin is 3-0.
KYLE CRAWFORD, Craig County
In three games, Crawford had seven hits in eight trips, scored six runs and stole three bases as the Rockets won twice.He has an on-base percentage of .750 this season.
CHAD SHAFFNER, Grayson County
Shaffner drilled three hits in five at-bats including two homers, one a grand slam, to knock in six runs. He also pitched 42/3 innings of relief, striking out five and giving up no runs to get credit for the Blue Devils' 12-5 victory over Fort Chiswell.
CHAD FOUTZ, LARRY BOWLES, Franklin County
Bowles pitched eight innings of no-hit ball in two outings, getting a complete game victory against Pulaski County and beating William Fleming in relief. Foutz was perfect at the plate with eight hits in eight trips including two homers, two doubles, a triple and 12 RBI. His homer against Fleming was a grand slam.
BRIAN JONES, MIKE McGUIRE, William Byrd
Jones hit home runs in three consecutive games including a solo shot that beat Group AAA E.C. Glass 3-2. McGuire pitched a two-hitter, went 4-for-5 with two homers and five RBI in a 13-0 victory over Lord Botetourt.
MATT TAWNEY, Giles
Tawney homered, doubled and singled to drive in five runs as Giles smashed Auburn 11-2 and clinched the Three Rivers' District title.

The duo paced a tough defense that keyed a 3-0 victory over Salem.
TISH CAMPBELL, Christiansburg
Campebell had three hits in four trips with a double and a walk while driving in six runs in the Blue Demons' 19-12 win over Marion. She is one of nine freshman starters for the school's first team.
AMY LAYMAN, Glenvar
The Highlanders' sophomore wizard led her team to a key 16-0 Pioneer District victory over Parry McCluer. Layman pitched a one-hitter and struck out nine without issuing a walk. Offensively, Layman singled, doubled and walked twice in four trips. She also stole three bases.The win made up for an earlier 14-10 loss by Glenvar to Parry McCluer that was Layman's only setback in four outings this year.

MATT BRYANT, William Byrd
Bryant, a senior All-Region III forward, scored four goals as the Terriers ripped league rival Lord Botetourt 7-0.
ANN STELZEL, MOLLY DRAPER, R.Catholic
Stelzel, a freshman, scored three goals in the second half of a 6-1 victory over Roanoke Valley Christian. Draper, also a freshman, allowed no shots from her zone in two games.
AIMEE BEIGHTOL, Cave Spring
Beightol scored two goals and had one assist in a key 3-1 victory over Patrick Henry for the Roanoke Valley District title.
TRACK
MICHELLE WATSON, William Fleming
Watson was the only performer to win three individual events in the 30th annual Cosmopolitan Invitational Track & Field meet. Watson finished first in the 100-, 200- and 400-meter dashes.
TAKISHA BASHAM, Lord Botetourt
Cavalier track coach Larry Carter knew what he was doing when he decided to run Basham, a sophomore, in the varsity part of the Cosmopolitan meet rather than the junior varsity section. Basham scored 25 points as she won the high jump, finished second in the discus, third in the shot put and ran on the 400-meter relay team that finished fourth.
