Decker and Partridge set a tournament record for the first day, edging the 67 fired by Tom McKnight of Galax and Bill Sibbick of Martinsville two years ago. Decker and Partridge need to fire a 69 today to set the tournament record of 135 also held by McKnight and Sibbick.
Bob Rotella and Michael Henderson from Charlottesville are second at 67, with five teams three strokes back at 69: Denton Willard of Salem and Rodney Naff of Roanoke; Jake Allison and Mark Teachey of Roanoke; J.W. Entsminger and David Brogan of Lexington; Blandin Wright and Larry Hund of Charlottesville; and Wayne Harris and John Nichols of Lynchburg. Defending tournament champions Mike Stinnette and Mark Funderburke are among a group five strokes back. The tournament concludes today.
