PARTS AVAILABLE FOR SUMMER PLAYS

The Southwest Virginia Theater for Youth will hold open auditions Friday and Saturday at 7 p.m. and Sunday at 4 p.m. in the Salem Camp Meeting Hall at Colordao and Third Streets in Salem.

Thirty-two male and 20 female parts are available for youths 10 to 19 for the troupe's four summer productions. No previous acting experience is necessary and actors do not have to be in all plays to participate.

The production company is holding a children's theater workshop for ages seven to 12 June 20-30 from 8 a.m. to noon. Participants will learn about the fine arts through songs, acting, dancing and story telling. Signups will be held Saturday, 10 a.m.-noon and Sunday, 2-4 p.m. The $20 non-refundable fee is due at the time of registration. Scholarships are available.

The Theater for Youth is a nonprofit company dedicated to providing youth an opportunity to perform on stage, to work backstage and to participate in workshops.
