Symphony auditions
Auditions for the Roanoke Youth Symphony will be held Saturday beginning at 1 p.m. at The Jefferson Center, Suite 200, 541 Luck Ave.
Students must call the symphony office to arrange for an audition time. Auditions will last approximately 10 minutes. Musicians should be prepared to play a piece of their own choosing, unaccompanied.

Geneology meeting
The Southwestern Virginia Geneological Society will meet Saturday, 1:30 p.m., in the auditorium of the Roanoke City Library, 706 S. Jefferson St.

Wildflower symposium
The 12t Annual Spring Wildflower Symposium will be held Friday through Sunday at the Wintergreen Resort, Wintergreen, Va.
The event will include slide presentations, workshops and 50 field trips, including ``A Walk on the Wild Side: Edibles and Medicinals'' and wildflower identification workshops along mountain trails.
The $75 registration fee includes all events. A discounted lodging rate is available.
