May Department Stores Co., St. Louis parent of Hecht's and Payless ShoeSource stores, reported net earnings of $114 million, or 41 cents per share, on revenues of $2.79 billion in its first quarter ended April 29, compared with year-earlier $112 million, or 41 cents per share, on revenues of $2.62 billion.

Unilever

Unilever, Anglo-Dutch parent of Elizabeth Arden Co. of Roanoke, reported first-quarter net profit of $475 million at current exchange rates, or $1.69 per share, on sales of $10.90 billion, compared with year-earlier $440 million, or $1.57 per share, on sales of $10.17 billion.
