D.K. McCLURE, son of Mac and Carol McClure of Roanoke, has been named to the dean's list at Johnson and Wales University in Charleston, S.C.
JENNIFER SUSANNA STARNES was named to the dean's list at University of Tennessee in Knoxville, Tenn., for the fall semester. Starnes is a 1992 graduate of William Byrd High School.
AMY MARIE WOODS, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. James A. Woods of Salem, has been named to Who's Who Among Students in American Universities and College. Woods is a senior at Sweet Briar College and a graduate of Glenvar High School.
SUSAN JOHNSON, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Henry Page Johnson Jr. of Roanoke, has been named to the dean's list for the fall semester at Salem College in Winston-Salem, N.C.
GINA DUVAL PEREZ, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. James P. Waters of Roanoke, has been selected for membership in the 1994-95 Who's Who Among Students in American Universities and Colleges.
Perez is a senior at Mary Baldwin College.
ROANOKE SCHOOLS have announced the winners in the citywide science fair.
The top projects from grades six through eight earned engraved plaques and cash awards. Student winners in grades nine through 12 earned engraved plaques and competed in the Western Virginia Regional Science Fair.

RENEE DOTY, a junior at Carson-Newman College, has been tapped into Mortar Board, the national college senior honor society. Mortar Board recognizes excellence in scholarship, leadership and service and has chapters on nearly 200 college campuses.
JESSICA DAHLGREN, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. James Dahlgren of Salem, has been awarded a Salem Academic Scholarship to Salem College. Dahlgren was awarded the scholarship in recognition of academic achievement at Northside High School.
JENNIFER SOSNOWSKI, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth Sosnowski of Salem, has been awarded a Presidential Scholarship to Salem College. Sosnowski was awarded the scholarship in recognition of outstanding academic and personal achievement.
KATIE FRANKE, daughter of Walter and Bernice Franke of Salem, recently attended the DePauw University Undergraduate Honors Conference, where she presented a project on Walt Disney cartoon production.
Franke, a 1991 graduate of Salem High School, is a senior communication studies major at Lynchburg College.

ROANOKE SCHOOL officials have announced the names of students who placed in the in the Virginia Scholastic Chess Championships in Spotsylvania County. Fifty-nine Roanoke students were among the 290 chess players from all over the state.
Roanoke individual winners were: Mark DiProsperis, second place, and Jonathan Tanner, ninth, both of Addison Middle School place; Jessie Hsing, sixth, and Justin Marlles, eighth; both of Madison Middle School; Martin Davis, seventh, and Adam Tanner, eighth, both of Raleigh Court Elementary; Tom Raney, third, and Giles Roberts, ninth, both of Fishburn Park Elementary.
